Bruce Gorrie Jazz Identity

The CD component of this project was done sometime ago while still attending design school. The CD was designed for a school project, and submitted to RGD (Registered Graphic Designers Association) Student Awards. It was one part of the three projects submitted that all were awarded a first place prize. The other projects as well as this one can be seen in Applied Arts, volume 20, number 5.

The design from there was used as the basis for experimentation and a proposal to use the design along with other assets in a limited pressing. They were done for the group in small numbers by hand, accompanied by a number of other assets.

The concept of the design was to visually capture the essence of the music, and a jazz gig, and also show the artfulness and freedom of the music. The type was also used to convey the feeling of that era when most of the greatest jazz standards were written and recorded.

The other assets were designed using guidelines set forth by the CD and Poster.
