The Hilltop Restaurant IdentityAn identity for a restaurant that is located in a historical building that used to be a prestigious gentlemens club that eventually turned into a dive bar. The building was renovated to maintain some of it’s old charm, and still have some elements of it’s original design, but, have a modern look, while being obvious that it is no longer under the same managment, and no longer a dive bar. We conceptualized this with the identity, by adding flourishes that are modern and inspired by the art nouveau period, a typeface that was also used frequently during that period, often by either butchers or fisheries. The material of the menu is made from a durable resin based paper, the colour matches the interior and the accessories for the table settings. The menu inserts are protected by a matte laminate, which make them waterproof, and virtually indestructable. Both the case and insert are designed to maintain their condition, are stain resistant, and can be cleaned. When holding the menu these aspects are not apparent, the beauty of it is that it seems like just a normal menu, no unusual texture, or unpleasant tactile qualities. |
